One of the most important things residents, businesses, organizations, and municipalities can do to help stop the PennEast pipeline is to send comments to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). FERC is the agency in charge with approving or rejecting this pipeline, and the more information you can get them on problems with PennEast or the route, the less likely PennEast will be allowed to proceed.
During the pre-filing period anyone can send FERC a comment about PennEast. The easiest way is to file a comment electronically on their web site.
NOTE: If you’re unable to do this or have technical difficulties with the process, you can send your comments to us via either email or regular mail, and we’ll forward them to FERC on your behalf. Please include your name, address, and phone number (these are required by FERC).

Sending a comment to FERC only takes a few minutes. It’s a two step system. In step 1 you register your name, address, email, phone #, and security “captcha”. This will send you an email. The email contains a link. Click it and you’ll be sent to the real comment page. Add your comment and you’re done. FERC will email you when your comment hits their official docket (this could be instantaneously, or could be the next business day).
Visit the quick comment page and you’ll see a page like this:
Fill out your name, address, town, state, zip code, email address, phone number, and the “captcha”. When you’re done click “Authorize”. This will result in a email being sent to you.
3) Open email entitled “FERC eComment Request”
You’ll get an email from FERC shortly that looks like this:
Click on the first link and you’ll be taken to the real comment page.
4) Real comment page
The real comment page looks like this:
Your personal information should be filled out already. What you have to do is put in a docket number, select it, put your comments in the comment box, then hit “Send Comment” on the bottom left of the screen.
5) Selecting the docket
In the “Search” box enter docket number “PF15-1-” and hit the “Search” button. This should popup the PennEast docket number. You’re not done yet! Now hit the “+” button under “Select”. The PennEast docket should pop into the “Selected Dockets” section.
6) Comment and send
Put your comments into the comment box. If you have a long comment we’d suggest writing them in a word processor and cutting and pasting them into the box. Then hit the “Send Comment” button on the bottom left.
This means FERC has received your comment and it will be filed to the docket shortly. Actual appearance on the docket can be immediate or it might take until the next business day.
